5 Months? WOW!

Can you believe it's already been close to 5 months since my last post? How bad am I? If I'm posting every 5 months now, you guys won't see anything when the baby gets here!

I really need to get better at this bloggin thing, even if I just take 5-10 minutes a week and post a little blurb.

Well, what has happened in the last few months?

I've gotten over the nervous hump! Thank goodness! Now that little miss Alex is kicking up a storm, she assures me every single day that this is for real, and it's really happening now! At first I was hesitant to get excited. I didn't want to get my hopes up, and then have something go wrong. Today I'm 25 weeks and 5 days and loving her every kick, poke, and movement!

It definitely took awhile to get excited, and I felt bad for Mike. His enthusiasm, excitement, and glow for our baby shined every single day. There wasn't a day that went by where he didn't ask how I was feeling or how his little peanut was doing. He asked why I wasn't excited, and I said I am, I just don't want to get my hopes up.

Well that all changed Sunday, April 8th! A few days before Easter, my sister in law Katie asked if I was stopping by my parents for Easter. I said it would be too crazy to do Easter at Mike's Aunt's house, as well as my parents house, so I figured we would just go to Mike's Aunt's house for Easter. Especially since Mike had just had surgery, and I didn't want him to have to run around either on his crutches. She had mentioned that she had something for me, and even if I could just stop by for a minute, she'd love to see me. I told her I would check with Mike, and get back to her. Mike was ok with swinging by before we headed to his Aunt's house, and then we would just take 70 up the back roads to celebrate Easter with the Corsaro's. I drove to my parents, and Mike got to stretch his leg out a little bit on the ride to Glenwood. We got to my parents, and said hi to Gram, Mom, and Dad. Brian and Katie were already there! What a suprise! Not even 10-15 minutes into our get-together, Katie asked me to sit on the couch next to her. She had something in her hands, and before she handed it to me, she said, you have to be quiet though, your parents don't know yet. As soon as she said that, I said are you pregnant? She didn't say a word, but smiled from ear to ear! I started crying, and just said oh my gosh! I opened the card that was addressed to "Baby Huntemann" and it was from "Baby Stout" saying you are going to be a cousin. I remember my brother standing in the TV room talking to my dad who was sitting down, and Mom was in the kitchen talking with Mike. Brian said, well I guess the cat's out of the bag, and handed my dad a card that said they were going to be grandparents twice this year. Mom was shocked, and my dad motioned the international sign for pregnant....you know, putting your hand out curving it from your ribs to your belly. Well, Gram knew what that meant, and she said who? And dad pointed to Katie. Gram said, no way! Copy cat! Oh Gram...we are thrilled that Brian and Katie decided to add to their family. Never in a million years did I EVER expect to hear my brother say that he was going to be a dad.

Well, on the ride home, Mike asked why I wasn't as excited about our family as I was for Brian and Katie. I told him I was excited, and I apologize for not showing it. The ultrasounds kept coming, and the doctors visits continued to reassure me that everything was A-OK! Then came the kicks! Boy do we have a little gymnast on our hands! She loves to do somersaults, and kicks, and stretch those teeny arms of hers. At first it felt like a muscle spasm that you may have in your leg or your arm. Then weeks went by, and it started getting more frequent, and stronger, and harder. Our roles had reversed! Now Mike was bummed out that he couldn't feel our little ladybug. He was feeling left out, and wanted nothing more than to feel her movements. We would try, and try, and try to get him to feel it, but nothing yet.

We were laying in bed, and there she went! She loves moving around when I'm trying to relax. We had gone out that evening with some co-workers to Buffalo Wild Wings in Urbana to watch the Bruins/Caps game, so we didn't get home until late. The Caps ended up winning in overtime to win the series 4-3. Mike wasn't too happy. Especially since he was surrounded by Caps fans cheering. I told him it was because he didn't wear his jersey. He said it was because they didn't meet him at Hollow Creek since it was a "home" game for Mike's Bruins. Oh well, the night ended well....I took Mike's hand, and placed it on my belly. A few moments later Mike said WHOA! THAT? I said yup! He goes, and that? I said yup! And she kept going! At that moment I knew Mike had officially felt our little lady bug move! Mike didn't want it to end, and I loved seeing him smile through the pitch black bedroom. I could just see him glowing, and grinning from ear to ear, even with the lights out. I was so excited we were finally on the same level, and it was definitely worth the wait!
