Genetics vs Biology

Although I had a rough morning when I had to do my HSG test, the meeting with the social worker wasn't as boring as we had expected.

They had found a tiny blockage when the dye wasn't going, and she had me rolling in my side while al that "stuff" was in me! Not fun at all, so then since they couldn't get it to go in the one particular spot, they had to get "the grabber!" just as fun as it sounds. They literally grabbed my uterus, and tugged on it! Talk about pain! Not sure if I'm just a big baby, but I ended up staying home from work, and trying to sleep off the pain. Well....learn a lesson from me. Don't let the IB Profen ware off before taking the next dose. I was in tears with my husband, hoping this would all be over soon. We've got our eyes on the prize, and as crazy as this sounds, I'm looking forward to starting the shots next week. One step closer to adding to our small family of husband and wife!

And I guess I'm getting prepped for "the big day" when we get to meet our little one.

So, the social worker meeting went ok. It was a bit boring, but the one thing that she said made me grin from ear to ear! I was so happy when she explained this to me, and I love her mindset, but it's soooo true! She had said that although we were doing the donor egg process, my husband and I would both be the biological parents, and my husband would also be the genetic parent!

The reason being, is because without my biology....my uterus, etc. this process wouldn't be possible. So I may not have our son or daughters genetics, but I would be the biological mother! I LOVE THAT!!!! It made me feel all warm inside!

So we are hoping that the HSG test went well, and I don't have to have another procedure to confirm that we can move forward.
